There are a few simple tips that will reduce your searching time. The goal is to end up with the information you are looking for as quickly as possible.
Three important search tips:

Use quotation marks to look for words in the exact order that you enter them.
Ex. “human rights”

Use a minus sign to exclude a word from your search.
Ex. Vikings-Minnesota

Limit your search to Web sites by certain groups, such as colleges, universities or organizations (or use advanced
search in Google)
Ex. Site:edu or site:org
The first step in searching is to know what you are looking for.

Use keywords are effective “as is”
•
Use intermediate words represent import ideas but aren’t effective “as is”

Omit words that have little effect on the outcome

Omit “stop” words that are ignored by a search engine
